The Story of Biruința Olteniei: From Seed to Premium Flour

We produce the grains from which we make our flour with the utmost care and attention, so that our result is exceptional every time.

Everything starts in Dobrun commune, Olt county, on a reddish-brown soil perfectly suited for grain cultivation due to its rich composition of phosphorus and potassium.

Our soil tillage system is a minimum-tillage one, which helps us achieve our goal while protecting microorganisms and the environment. We rely on the naturally occurring mulch layer to increase organic matter levels and reduce the amount of fertilizers needed to produce our raw materials.

Next, we choose Glosa, a wheat variety produced by the National Agricultural Research and Development Institute Fundulea, and Suceveana, a rye variety produced by the Suceava Agricultural Research and Development Station in 1996, which to this day surpasses many other varieties in terms of quality. All seed material is produced by us, as our technologist has over 30 years of experience in the field and a specialization in conservative selection, meaning seed multiplication.

Sowing is done with state-of-the-art equipment. Our Vaderstad Rapid 600S seeder provides high precision, ensuring that the quality of the work meets our exact standards. To protect the seedlings against diseases and pests, we apply seed treatments to guarantee optimal crop development.

In early spring, we begin applying fertilizers, strictly based on the soil analyses we conduct every 3 years. This way, we manage to remain economically viable and obtain a product that is as clean as possible.

Regarding crop treatments, we only use new-generation products approved in Romania with a short pre-harvest interval. By complying with these standards and using Ecocert-certified biostimulants, we succeed in producing pesticide residue-free grains. This fact is certified by analyses performed on both the grains and the finished product, the flour.

The harvesting of the grains is done at a moisture level below 14% to ensure problem-free storage. In the silos, the grains are carefully monitored to prevent the development of molds and fungi, which would otherwise degrade the quality of the products.

All these factors combined lead to the true result of our work: producing premium quality grains to be used in our stone mill.
